Dhaka, 24 December 2023 : The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned all kinds of campaigns and processions from January 5 to January 9 to keep the atmosphere of the 12th National Assembly elections peaceful.

In the light of the Election Commission (EC) directive, the Public Security Department of the Ministry has issued a circular in this regard. The concerned have been asked to take necessary measures.

According to the circular, in accordance with Article 78 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, one must refrain from calling, holding or participating in any public meeting within 48 hours before the commencement of polling in a constituency and 48 hours after the close of polling.

Besides, effective action should be taken against organizing or not participating in any procession or procession.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has written to the Election Commission (EC) seeking permission to transfer 63 inspectors (inspectors of police) ahead of the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections. This letter was sent to the EC on Friday. The letter signed by Sirajam Munira, Deputy Secretary, Public Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, said, "Letter to the EC seeking approval for the transfer/posting of 30 Inspectors of Police (Armed), 30 Inspectors of Police (Unarmed) and 3 Inspectors of Police (City and Vehicles) of the Directorate of Police. has been sent

Voting will begin on January 7 at 8 am. As such, the ban will be effective from 8 am on January 5 to 8 am on January 9.
