Bangladesh observes national mourning for Kuwait Emir's death

Dhaka, Dec 18: A one-day state mourning is being observed today (Monday, December 18) over the death of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This decision was announced in a notification of the Cabinet Department on Sunday (December 17).

It is said in the notification that on the death of the Emir of Kuwait, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions and educational institutions and Bangladesh missions abroad on Monday, December 18. Special prayers will be held in all mosques of Bangladesh on that day for the forgiveness of the soul of the Emir of Kuwait. Special prayers for the repose of his soul will be organized in other religious institutions.

Meanwhile, Kuwait announced 40 days of state mourning to pay respect to the recently deceased Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah. In addition, three days of public holidays have been declared in the country. Sheikh Nawaf died on Saturday at 86. Within hours of his death, his step-brother Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah was named as the new Emir. 83-year-old Michal was previously in charge of the country's crown prince.
