Dhaka, 2 July 2023 : The number of dengue cases in the country is increasing at an alarming rate.

From January to May, 2022 dengue cases were detected across the country.

However, only in June, 5 thousand 956 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue.

Those concerned say that the rainy season is going on, there is an opportunity for the Aedes mosquito that carries dengue to spread due to the accumulation of rainwater.

In this situation, if effective measures are not taken to prevent dengue, the rate of dengue cases will increase further this month.

The Department of Health says that on the first day of July, 270 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

On the 30th day of June, the highest number of dengue patients was detected this year and almost three times more than in the last 5 months.

This information was revealed by analyzing the press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Department of Health on Saturday.

According to the information of the Directorate, in June, a total of 5 thousand 956 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue infection.

At the same time, 34 people died due to dengue. Earlier, 566 people in January, 166 in February, 111 in March, 143 in April and 1 thousand 36 in May were diagnosed with dengue. In total, 2 thousand 22 people were diagnosed with dengue in these 5 months.

Meanwhile, only in the month of June, dengue was detected in about 6 thousand people in the country. As compared to the first 5 months of the year, dengue is detected almost three times in one month (June).

It is known that Mugda Medical College Hospital currently has the most 239 dengue patients among the capital's government hospitals. After that, 123 patients are admitted in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, 73 patients in Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital, 28 patients in Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, 25 patients in Kurmitola General Hospital, 24 patients in Combined Military Hospital and 19 patients in Children's Hospital. There are 598 people.
