Bangladesh's coronavirus infection rate drops to 3 percent after 25 weeks

Dhaka, October 1: The coronavirus infection rate in Bangladesh has dropped to three percent, as per the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). According to the DGHS, the daily infection rate, between Wednesday and Thursday, was 3.24 percent, which is the lowest in 25 weeks. 

In between Wednesday and Thursday morning, the country tested 26,569 Covid-19 samples and reported 860 new cases.

Bangladesh's coronavirus caseload has jumped to 15,55,911.

The country reported its first Covid-19 infection on March 8, 2020. The country's overall infection rate stands at 15.99 percent.

As the second wave of Covid-19 infections hit the country, the rate had jumped to over 32 percent, forcing the government to impose a hard lockdown for nearly 45 days. The government also prioritised hygiene and and urged the citizens to follow Covid-19 safety protocols.

In the aforementioned 24 hours, 979 people recovered after being infected by the deadly disease. So far, a total of 15,15,941 people have recovered from the coronavirus.
