Bangladesh's second and largest maritime institute to be inaugurated in Madaripur next month

Dhaka, May 9: After Chittagong, the country's largest and second maritime institute has been constructed in Madaripur to train 600 sailors and crew every year. It will be inaugurated at the end of this month or next month, said Shajahan Khan, Member of Parliament for Madaripur-2 Constituency and former Shipping Minister.

He said this after visiting the project area at Dudhkhali in Madaripur on Monday.

Shajahan Khan said, this institution has been built at a cost of Tk 76 crore for the training of sailors and crew working on ships in the country and abroad. 600 students can get admission in two groups every year. Those who work in ships abroad can return home with 10 crore rupees if they work for 10 years. Those who take training from here will also earn good income. The institute also has good accommodation and sports facilities for the trainees.

He said, not only boys but also girls can get training from here - from which the financial development of the country will take place. It is very easy to earn foreign currency by working on a ship if you enroll in a 6-month course and get training. 11,000 sailors of the country are working in different countries, besides 6,000 crew are working. Those who have trained - no one is unemployed. He said that everyone has got a job.
