Bangladesh-UAE agree to strengthen bilateral relations
Dhaka, March 9: Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to further strengthen the existing relationship between the two countries in their mutual interest. The decision was taken at a bilateral meeting between visiting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Tuesday.
After the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, who is accompanying the Prime Minister, told reporters that the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also stressed the need to operate Emirates flights between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina said, "The Bangladesh government is now constructing the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. We are trying to increase our capacity for this purpose."
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh also mentioned in the meeting that there are huge opportunities for trade and investment of UAE in Bangladesh. She also praised the UAE government for successfully tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister also lauded Al Maktoum for the remarkable development of Dubai.
In this context, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the government of Bangladesh and said, "You (Sheikh Hasina) have also done well in the management of Covid-19."
Sheikh Hasina said, "We have a lot of opportunities for further development."
The Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her visit to the UAE on the eve of International Women's Day.
