Bangladesh-UAE MoU signed for implementation of e-Visa

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 19: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Bangladesh and UAE for the implementation of e-Visa.

On Tuesday (October 18) afternoon, Security Services Department Secretary Md. Abdullah Al Masood Chowdhury and UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Al Maudi signed the MoU at the Secretariat. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present at the time.

At the signing ceremony of the MoU, the Home Minister said, "Today, through the signing of the MoU, steps have been taken to implement the Bangladesh e-Visa/e-TA system on a G2G (Government-to-Government) basis."

The minister also said that today will be marked as an important milestone for Bangladesh and the UAE in the digitalization of the e-Visa system in Bangladesh. It is also a major achievement in the longstanding bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

United Arab Emirates is a long-time tested friend of Bangladesh. Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates share many similarities and both countries are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). A large number of Bangladeshi workers and skilled manpower reside in the UAE and are contributing greatly to the development of the two countries in various fields.

The minister said that the United Arab Emirates is one of the main investors in Bangladesh. The historical foundation of Bangladesh-UAE bilateral relations is mutual respect and important cooperation. I believe that there are many mutual interests between the two countries, which can further enhance the development goals of the nation.

The minister also said that one of the main national goals of Bangladesh is Digital Bangladesh, which has been achieved through Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The implementation of the Bangladesh e-Visa is also one of the important promises of the Prime Minister. Bangladesh's government has given special importance to the use of digital technology.

The minister said that the security services department has recently been providing services in various matters easily through the online security clearance system. The implementation of the Bangladesh e-visa is an effort of the security services department through which it will be possible to provide online visa services.
