Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 4 September 2023: The ninth annual security dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States will be held in Dhaka tomorrow, Tuesday. The US delegation to the dialogue will be led by Mira Resnick, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Regional Security in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.

The US Embassy in Dhaka said on Sunday that the security dialogue between the two countries is an annual and civilian event, where all aspects of security relations are discussed. In the dialogue, representatives from both sides will discuss Indo-Pacific regional issues, security and human rights, military cooperation, peacekeeping, security assistance, and counter-terrorism. The dialogue is part of the comprehensive security relationship between the two governments.

The US-Bangladesh security partnership is very strong and our two countries have common interests in the Indo-Pacific region. Both the countries have a common vision to keep the Indo-Pacific region free, unfettered, peaceful and secure. Various dialogues are organized throughout the year to achieve these mutual goals.

This year's security dialogue is going to be held very close to the bilateral defense dialogue held in Dhaka on August 23-24. The bilateral defense dialogue was attended by senior US and Bangladeshi military officials and civilians. They discussed various issues specific to military relations, such as military education, peacekeeping and upcoming military exercises, including next year's disaster response exercises and exchanges. The eighth security dialogue between the two countries was held in Washington in April last year.

Mira Resnik, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Political-Military Department of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has already arrived in Dhaka to participate in the dialogue. The US Embassy in Dhaka gave such information in a post on the X platform on Monday.

According to the post, the United States and Bangladesh share similar views on keeping the Indo-Pacific region free, unfettered and peaceful. Welcome Mira Resnick, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs. He is in Dhaka for US-Bangladesh bilateral security dialogue. The US delegation will discuss regional development, human rights, security assistance and counter-terrorism.
