Barisal division reports 436 cases, 17 deaths in 24 hours

Dhaka, July 5: Barisal division has registered 436 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours, between Sunday and Monday morning, according to the health authorities.

This is the southern division's biggest single-day jump since the start of the pandemic last year.

Barisal has registered 19,073 cases and 321 deaths so far.

The figures were confirmed by Divisional Director of Health Basudeb Kumar Das.

He added that 15,265 patients have recovered so far across the division.

Among the 17 deceased, the Covid-19 unit at Barisal city’s Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) registered 11.

The remaining six deaths were two each from Barisal, Pirojpur and Jhalakathi district.

Of the 436 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Barisal district reported 157, Jhalakathi reported 100, Pirojpur reported 83, Patuakhali reported 43, Barguna reported 36, and Bhola district reported 16 deaths.
