Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 6: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has asked BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir how the convicted fugitive accused Tarique Rahman, who is also a foreign national, became the acting chairman of the BNP.
He raised the question at a press conference held at his office in the Secretariat on Sunday morning.
Awami League general secretary said, "How much money can a convicted fugitive like Tarique Rahman invest to get foreign citizenship? Tarique Rahman smuggled the invested money abroad through money laundering."
Recalling the sad memories during the BNP rule, he said the people of the country have not yet forgotten the disgusting precedent set by the BNP in the history of this country. The people of this country no longer want to walk in the path of so-called democracy taught by BNP.
