BGB raided and seized drugs worth Tk 88 crore in December

Dhaka, January 1: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) operation in December seized more than Tk 88.24 crore worth of smuggling and drugs. The information was given in a press release signed by BGB public relations officer Md. Shariful Islam on Friday (January 1).

The seized drugs include: 10 lakh 26 thousand 610 pieces of yaba, 70 thousand 13 bottles of phencidyl, 21 thousand 747 bottles of foreign liquor, one thousand 408 cans of beer, one thousand 423 kg of cannabis, 6 kg 2 g of heroin, 11 thousand 98 stimulant injections, 16 thousand 465 Anagra / Senegra tablets and 12 lakh 69 thousand 265 other tablets.

Other smuggled items include 12 kg 977 g gold, 14 kg 344 g silver, 1,033 imitation jewelery, 54,304 cosmetics, 5,954 saris, 663 three pieces / shirtpieces, 3,046 readymade garments, 343 meters. Cloth, 5,196 cubic feet of wood, 3,792 kg of tea leaves, 2,610 kg of coal, 1 truck, 12 private cars, 6 pickups, 21 CNG / engine driven autorickshaws and 6 motorcycles. The weapons recovered included a pistol, 14 assault rifles and 959 rounds of ammunition.

Besides, legal action has been taken against 282 smugglers and 163 Bangladeshi nationals and 8 Indian nationals for being involved in various types of drug smuggling and other smuggling, including yaba, during the BGB operation at the border.
