Dhaka, Sept 24: Today is Bijaya Dasami. Today is the last day of the five-day Sharad festival of the Hindus. The main religious festival of the Hindus will end with the immersion of idols. Dasami means Goddess Durga's return, and devotees' wait for another year.

Dasami Puja is being celebrated from this morning through Bihit Puja. Bijaya Dashami is the day to greet loved ones with a hug after idol worship.

Dashami Bihit Puja started on Tuesday (October 24) at 9:57 am. Darpan-bisarjan will be offered at the end of the puja. Durga visits Kailas on Bijaya Dasami, so devotees will play vermilion to bid farewell to Mother Durga. Leaving the Mother Goddess in the heart, the farewell tune will be played in the sound of drums and conch shells. Devotees will have tears of pain in their eyes besides chanting the mantras of the priest in the pandals.

After all the activities of the puja will be given to Devi Durga. The idols of most of the puja mandaps in the capital Dhaka will be immersed in the Binasmriti Snan Ghat of the Buriganga river. After noon, the statue will be brought down from the mandap to Sadarghat. Dhaka Metropolitan Police has taken extra security at various points of the city on the occasion of the dedication. Kotwali Thana Police will be in Raisaheb Bazar, Sadarghat, Wiseghat.

The five autumnal Durgotsav started last Saturday with Maha Shasthi Puja. After Vihit Puja and Darpan-Visarjan on Dashami, the biggest autumn Durga Puja of the Hindus will end with idol immersion.
