Boat Race BIWTA arranges boat race in Buriganga on the Prime Minister's birthday
Dhaka, September 27: The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has organized a boat race in the Buriganga on Tuesday, September 28, on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 75th birthday, according to a press release from the Ministry of Shipping on Sunday (September 26).
Sheikh Hasina was born on September 28, 1947. She is the eldest child of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel will inaugurate the boat race at 4:00 pm on the same day at Barishur launch dock in Keraniganj.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md. Atiqul Islam, Member of Parliament Md. Kamrul Islam and Haji Md. Selim will be present as guests on the occasion.
On the occasion of the boat race, a gathering and distribution of prizes has been organized near Sheikh Jamal Government Secondary School in Kamrangirchar. BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq will deliver the welcome address at the function presided over by Shipping Ministry Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury.
