Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 31 October 2023: The situation in the capital's Gabtali area is calm on the first day of the three-day siege by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. But the traffic is less. Even though BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists could not find any program in support of the blockade, Awami League has taken positions in various places. Such a picture was seen on the ground on Tuesday morning.

Leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations have been stationed in this area since Fajr prayers for the "protection of people's lives and safety of public life" centered on the Dhaka blockade of BNP-Jamaat.

Regarding the location, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Mizam, organizing secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League, said, "We have been stationed in Gabtali area since dawn. BNP-Jamaat does not exist here. Everything is fine. We are careful about the safety of people's lives and property. I heard that BNP-Jamaat will come here, but They have no vision. We have to protect the wealth of the country."

Gabatali was seen, most of the bus counters are closed. A few are open but there is a shortage of passengers. Many are unable to leave the bus due to fear. There is very little traffic on Gabtali road. However, no untoward incident has occurred yet. Along with the police, Awami League and allied organizations have been seen to take a cautious stance in overall security. Jubo League workers were seen having a showdown with a fleet of bikes in Gabtali and its surrounding areas.

Attack on October 28 mass gathering, arrest of thousands of leaders and activists of various parties, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, house-to-house searches, harassment and torture, protesting the one-point demand for the government's resignation, from October 31 morning to November 2, Thursday 6:00 p.m. BNP has announced the implementation of the blockade program.

After BNP announced this blockade program, Jamaat-e-Islami also announced a three-day blockade program. Other anti-government parties also supported the blockade program.
