BNP Rally BNP must hold rallies where permission is given: DMP
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 26 October 2023: Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Dr. K Mahid Uddin said that BNP should hold rallies only where the rally is allowed. We hope they will be in that place of responsibility. He said these things in response to a question from journalists at his office on Wednesday, October 25.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "Even if the police give permission, they will rally in Nayapaltan, even if they don't, they will do it in Nayapaltan." In response to such a question, he said, "I have to speak within the legal framework. I have no comment on anyone's statement. BNP must hold rallies only where the rally is allowed."
Dr. K. Mahid Uddin said, "I call on all political parties to follow the conditions given in the legal framework. It is better to hold the rally of any political party in any field in Dhaka city. We have told that to the political parties at different times."
When asked about permission for Jamaat-e-Islami's rally, he said, "They have filed a petition. The High Court has made observations about this group. A group like Jamaat will not be allowed in a place like Shapla Chatwar."
Additional Commissioner Dr. K Mahid Uddin said, "There is no specific information yet. Many times politicians do not want to take responsibility after such incidents. They say they know who did it. No. We also have such experience. So it cannot be said now that sabotage will not happen. We have all kinds of preparations to keep the citizens of the city safe."
The Additional Commissioner of Police requested all the political parties to behave responsibly on behalf of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
