BNP's Fakhrul-Khasru out of prison after three months

Dhaka, February 15: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury have been released from Keraniganj Central Jail.

Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP's media cell, said that they left the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj at 3:35 pm after the bail order reached the prison authorities.

He said that BNP activists and relatives of the top two leaders of the party welcomed these two at the jail gate.

The court has granted bail to party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul and Amir Khosru in the case filed in connection with the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.

At least 11 cases were filed against Fakhrul in connection with BNP's October 28 general meeting. Out of this, 8 cases have been registered in Paltan Police Station and 3 in Ramna Police Station.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury got bail in the sabotage case on January 17.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir got bail in nine cases filed in Paltan and Ramna Police Station on January 10.

On October 29, the police filed a case in Ramna police station on the charge of attacking and vandalizing the residence of the Chief Justice during the rally of BNP on October 28.

Apart from Mirza Fakhrul, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas and 59 activists were accused in the case.

In this case, Fakhrul was arrested on October 29 and was in jail.
