BRTA issues four directions for driving safely in fog

Dhaka, December 17: The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has issued four-point instructions to motor vehicle drivers and owners to drive safely in fog.

In a press release sent to the media on Friday (December 16), the BRTA requested car drivers and owners to comply with these instructions.

According to BRTA, vehicles should always be driven on the road at a controlled speed that can be stopped within visual range in fog, maintaining a safe distance. In foggy conditions, the car should be driven with 'low-beam or dipper' headlights. Do not drive with 'high-beam or upper' on as 'high-beam or upper' makes the fog thicker. No lane changing/overtaking. Horns should be sounded if necessary to avoid danger in places that cannot be seen or seen before turning.

If you cannot see at all due to thick fog or if the visibility reaches zero, stop the car in a safe place and turn off the headlights and turn on the hazard lights.
