Bus and train services stopped in Khulna for a week as Covid-19 situation worsens

Dhaka, June 21: A week-long strict lockdown is starting in Khulna from Tuesday (June 22). No train will leave Khulna Railway Station during the lockdown. Besides, trains from other districts will also be stopped. At the same time, public transport will not run within the district or in the inter-district. All types of vehicles including easybikes and three wheelers will be closed in the district for one week.

The ban was imposed in a public notice signed by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain on Sunday (June 20th) afternoon.

The notification further said that all types of shops, markets, shopping malls and coaching centers will be closed from June 22 to 28. The daily necessities and raw material shops will be open daily from 7 am to 2 pm. During this time, hotels and restaurants will be able to provide food in parcel form. The drug store can be kept open all the time.

All types of tourist centers, resorts, community centers and recreation centers will be closed. All types of weekly haats / cattle haats will be closed within the district. People can't go out of the house in any way unless absolutely necessary. The notice states that everyone must wear a mask while staying outside.

It has been informed that the officers and employees engaged in emergency work of public and private offices will be able to move out of the office with their identity cards during office hours.

All concerned in Khulna district and metropolis have been requested to strictly abide by the rules and regulations. Otherwise, legal action will be taken against those involved, it said.

Recently, due to the increase in coronavirus infection in Khulna, the district administration issued this strict ban.
