Dhaka, July 3: From this July, the Civil Aviation Authority is allowing helicopters to land on rooftops of homes, corporate helipads, residential hotels and hospitals.

According to sources, the organization is already preparing a policy in this regard. Babychak chairman also agreed to this. The decision may be issued in the form of a circular and implemented by July. Babychock Chairman Air Vice Marshal about giving permission again. Mofidur Rahman said that permission to land helicopters on the rooftop has been approved. It will be issued in circular form in July itself. Hope to be able to land the helicopter from July.

According to Bebichak sources, the building where the helicopter will land must be suitable for landing. For this, the necessary certificate should be taken from BUET. Establishment of helipad will not be allowed without certificate. Besides, permission is also being given to use any open space in the country as a helipad.

For several years, helipads in Dhaka were not allowed to land helicopters. The reason for this, Bebichak said, was verbally disallowed from the Ministry of Home Affairs to give such permission. They cited security risks and the threat of drug trafficking as reasons for this. So till now helicopters used to take off and land from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

However, helicopter-owning companies have been demanding this permission for a long time. According to the organizations, no landing is allowed on any hotel, hospital or rooftop helipad in Dhaka due to security concerns.

If permission is required to bring a comatose patient urgently from Rangpur to Square Hospital, a helicopter can go and bring him within 1 hour. Now the helicopter landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with that patient. Patients can be brought to Dhaka by helicopter in 1 hour, but due to traffic jam, it takes 2/3 hours to go from the airport to the hospital.

South Asian Airlines was the first private enterprise to launch commercial helicopter services in the country in 1999. Now anyone can rent a helicopter.

According to the Aviation Operators Association of Bangladesh (AOAB), 10 private companies have 32 helicopters in the country.
