Canadian Minister impressed by seeing progress of Bangladesh

Dhaka, 14 August 2021: Canadian Minister for International Development Karina Gold has announced to strengthen partnership with Bangladesh in various fields.

According to a press release issued by the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka, Kareena Gould visited Virtual Bangladesh for three days. At this time she had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen. Her visit ended on August 12 with a live performance at the Vasantek slum in the capital's Mohakhali.

During the visit, the Canadian Minister announced his contribution to two important projects in Bangladesh. She joined BRAC's Strategic Partnership for the next five years with a 45 million grant and provided 2 million in additional Canadian funding to UNICEF to "strengthen quality education in Cox's Bazar."

She also discussed the continued assistance of the Rohingya as well as the affected asylum seekers and Canada in responding to the Corona situation.

"This was my first visit to Bangladesh and although it was virtual," said Gould, Canada's Minister for International Development. Nevertheless, I am impressed by the significant progress that has been made in Bangladesh. I was impressed by their liveliness.

She added that Canada is committed to continuing to work with Bangladesh to address all challenges, including providing assistance to meet the needs of the Rohingya and people living in extreme poverty.
