Chamber Judge Court suspends sentence of Agrani Bank's five officials

Dhaka, Jan 25: Five officials of Agrani Bank were sentenced to three months (civil jail) for repeatedly disobeying the order of the High Court. The order has been suspended by the Appellate Division Chamber Judge. At the same time, the court has fixed March 18 as the date for the hearing in the regular bench of the Appellate Division.

After hearing the application made on behalf of the bank, the Appellate Division Judge M. Inayetur Rahim's Chamber Judge Court gave this order on Thursday.

The accused officials are - Agrani Bank Head Office Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md. Morshedul Kabir, Deputy Managing Director-1 Wahida Begum, Deputy Managing Director-2 Shyamal Krishna Saha and General Manager Fazlul Karim. Another is AKM Fazlul Haque, the current general manager of the bank's principal branch.

Earlier, the single bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman of the High Court announced the verdict with a sentence of three months after hearing the application made by Mizanur Rahman, Chairman and Managing Director of Moon International Printing Press Limited.

In this regard, Advocate Nurul Amin said, "They have been asked to surrender to the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court within one month of receiving the verdict." After receiving the copy of the judgment, the details can be said. The bank officials appealed for the postponement of the judgment. It came up for hearing on Thursday.
