Charge sheet against 13 people who returned from China as 'doctors'

Dhaka, 12 February 2023 : 13 young people from Bangladesh went to China on tourist visa.

The doctor got dressed after returning to the country. He said he passed MBBS in that country.

After investigating through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was found that all their certificates were fake.

They were first caught by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and then accused in the charge sheet.

ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Muhammad Arif Sadek confirmed that the charge sheet was recently approved against these fake doctors and their accomplices.

16 persons have been accused in the approved charge sheet. 3 of them are officials of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. These three are the registrar of the institution. Zahidul Haque Basunia, administrative officer Mohammad Borhan Uddin and former computer operator and supervisor Mohammad Mojibur Rahman.

ACC arrested 7 doctors who took registration as doctors using fake certificate of MBBS pass on January 19, 2022 from Segunbagicha area of the capital. Later on January 29 of that year from Gazipur Kashimpur Doctor's Hospital. Another fake doctor named Shibli Sadiq was arrested.

A team led by ACC Deputy Director Selina Akhtar Moni arrested them. He also investigated the case.

According to the investigation report, the 13 Bangladeshi students passed MBBS from Taishan Medical University in China. They participated in the registration eligibility test conducted by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council on different dates using fake MBBS certificate of that university. Having "passed" that examination, he received the registration number as a doctor and is engaged in intern practice in various medical colleges of the country and medical services in various hospitals. On verification of records, it was found that their MBBS certificates were fake. They actually did not pass MBBS.

Sources also said that the ACC sent the copies of the certificates to Taishan Medical University authorities through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh to verify the correctness of the MBBS certificate.

In view of this, through the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing, China, the documents were verified and sent to the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, East Asia and Pacific Section on January 21, 2019. A review of the records obtained shows that according to the School of International Education Taishan Medical University authorities, the MBBS certificates of the said 13 MBBS degree holders are fake.
