Civil aviation minister welcomes Russia's interest in starting Dhaka-Moscow direct flight

Dhaka, March 15: Russia has expressed interest in becoming a development partner for Bangladesh's aviation industry.

Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Mantitsky informed about this interest of Russia during a meeting with the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Muhammad Farooq Khan at the Secretariat on Thursday.

The ambassador also said that we want to create a partnership with the growing aviation industry in Bangladesh. Russia is keen to provide any kind of assistance there, including technical assistance.

Also, the Russian ambassador expressed interest in starting Dhaka-Moscow direct flights so that tourists from both countries can travel easily, said that every year a large number of Russian tourists travel to different countries of the world. If the direct flights are launched, all Russian tourists who now travel to neighboring countries will be interested in coming to Bangladesh.

If the number of Russian tourists in Bangladesh increases, it will contribute to the development of the tourism industry in this country and will strengthen the friendship between the people of the two countries.

In reply, the Minister said, "Bangladesh's location in the international aviation route, we are working to make Bangladesh one of the major aviation hubs by utilizing this opportunity. Bangladesh's aviation infrastructure has been raised to international standards in the last 15 years. Russia is a loyal friend of Bangladesh. We sincerely welcome the desire of a friendly country like Russia to become a development partner in the aviation industry of Bangladesh and the interest of launching Dhaka-Moscow direct flights. In this regard, a decision will be taken subject to discussion between the relevant authorities of the two countries in accordance with international norms."
