Clauses in Cyber Security Act facing objection will go through change: Law Minister

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 16 September 2023: Law Minister Anisul Huq has said that radical changes have been made in the Cyber Security Act in which journalists have objections. Except for four cases, there is no opportunity to arrest anyone without a warrant. But this act is being misinterpreted.

The Law Minister said these things in response to questions from journalists at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Friday morning. The minister came to Akhaura to attend the extended meeting of South Union Awami League.

The law minister was responding to reporters' questions about the various reactions to the Cyber Security Act passed by Parliament on Thursday. In his speech at the extended meeting organized by the South Union Awami League, the Law Minister asked for votes for the boat brand in favor of Sheikh Hasina. He also said that the election will be held in the last week of December or the first week of January.

Akhaura Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Abul Kasem Bhuiyan, Municipal Mayor Md. Takzil Khalifa Kajal, Upazila Awami League Leader Mohammad Ali, Monir Hossain Babul, Salim Bhuiyan, South Union Chairman Jalal Hossain etc. were present in the extended meeting. The Law Minister attended a football match in Kasba as the chief guest in the afternoon.

The Minister said that technical crime in the Cyber Security Act is punishable by 14 years for hacking or if someone destroys something by breaking into the computer.
