Dhaka, February 17: Climate change is a terrible problem for Bangladesh. World leaders are aware of this. But the most proud thing is that our ancestors and mothers are living in this land after facing storms and disasters in spite of various adversities. Planning Minister MA Mannan made the remarks while virtually attending the launch of a publication titled 'Bangladesh Climate and Disaster Risk Atlas' on Thursday (February 17th).

"We are also surviving well on climate change," the minister said in a webinar. "Our Prime Minister is implementing various initiatives. Our friendly countries are providing various assistance. We are working like a developed country. We are working for the betterment of the coastal people and the backward people."

Assuring the concerned ministries and departments, MA Mannan further said, "You have brought the climate-related project to the Planning Commission, we are here. I will pass these by watching. The people own the country, so we have to work for the people.

In the context of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), he said, ADB or ADB is an emotional name. Asia means Bangladesh, Asia means villages and cities of Bangladesh.

Joining the webinar, State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam said, "I have already spoken to the ADB Country Director. I have asked to invest Delta Plan as the basis of development. Because, for sustainable development, tackling the effects of climate change is essential. That is why this centenary plan is being prepared and implemented."

ADB Country Director Edimon Ginting also spoke on the occasion. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Nurun Nahar, Joint Head, Planning Commission.
