Dhaka, December 4: Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Bangladesh's outstanding achievements over the past decade and gave her full credit for this development.

She said, "The whole credit for this outstanding achievement of Sheikh Hasina's government goes to her alone."

Patricia Scotland said: "Sheikh Hasina is the sole recipient of the outstanding achievements of her government since she took over as Prime Minister."

The top Commonwealth official added that more than one million Rohingya have fled their homeland and taken refuge in Bangladesh to escape persecution in Myanmar. Despite the burden of this huge number of refugees, the way Bangladesh has ensured growth despite the ongoing global epidemic has taught many leaders of the world today the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

"The leadership of Sheikh Hasina, one of the world's most vulnerable developing countries to natural disasters, teaches us that development is meaningless at the expense of humanity and that such guidance should be the key to genuine leadership," she said. "You can learn from this example of Sheikh Hasina."

The virtual discussion also touched on the deepest relationship of the organization with the members of the Commonwealth on various issues, especially assistance to Bangladesh in tackling the Covid-19.
