Communal violence still plagues Bangladesh: Quader

Dhaka, April 27: General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that sectarian violence is still plaguing Bangladesh. Our goal is to build a smart Bangladesh by fighting against them under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

He said this on Thursday morning after the Awami League paid tribute to undivided Bengal Chief Minister Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque on his 61st death anniversary. Central leaders of the party were present during the tribute.

Obaidul Quader said about the new president, he is a true Bengali and a sensible person. He will prove his worth by his work. Awami League general secretary said about the rebel candidate of Awami League in the city election, the position of the party will remain the same if there is a rebel candidate in the city election.

Meanwhile, April 27 is the death anniversary of undivided Bengal Chief Minister Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque. He died on this day in 1962 in Dhaka. He also has an important place in the pages of history as a living symbol of academics and communal harmony.

Sher Bangla AK Fazlul Haque was born on October 26, 1873 in Saturia village of Rajapur, Jhalkathi district. In his illustrious political life, he served as the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal, Home Minister of the Central Government of Pakistan, Governor of East Pakistan, Chief Minister of the United Front Government, the first Muslim Mayor of Calcutta City Corporation and member of the Legislative Assembly.

Various social, political and cultural organizations have taken elaborate programs on the occasion of Sher Bengal's death anniversary. These programs include placing wreaths at the graves of the deceased and reciting Fateha and discussion meetings.
