Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 31 October 2023: The foreign missions in Dhaka have expressed concern over the political violence in Dhaka on Saturday around the rally of BNP. The diplomatic missions expressed this concern in a joint statement on Monday. The Australian High Commission in Dhaka has released a joint statement in a post on their Facebook.

A joint statement from diplomatic missions said Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States are deeply concerned by the violence surrounding the October 28 political rally in Dhaka. Condolences to those who lost their lives and were injured in the violence.

Adding to the theme of free, fair, participatory and peaceful elections, the statement said, "We call on all stakeholders to work together to avoid violence by exercising restraint and at the same time uphold the conditions of free, fair, participatory and peaceful elections."

Missions that signed the statement were Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Norway, United Kingdom and the United States.

Earlier on Saturday, the United States responded to the incident of political violence in Dhaka on the same day. Condemning the conflict-violence in Dhaka, the country's visa ban for Bangladesh is reminiscent of the violence review.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen briefed representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, various United Nations organizations and international organizations at Rashtriya Guest House Meghna on the ongoing political situation in Bangladesh.
