Coronavirus kills 31 people within 24 hours, daily infection rate stands at 4.49 percent

Dhaka, September 28: The deadly coronavirus has killed 31 people in the last 24 hours- between Monday and Tuesday- across Bangladesh, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The death toll rose to 27,470. Among the 31 deceased were 17 men and 14 women.

Four people died at private facilities, while 27 breathed their last at government hospitals. The death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

During this time, 1,310 people tested positive for the virus, taking the country's Covid-19 caseload to 15,53,873.

The DGHS said, 29,186 samples were tested in 821 laboratories in between Monday and Tuesday.

The daily infection rate was 4.49 percent. 

Bangladesh has so far tested a total of 96,76,123 samples, for an overall infection rate of 16.06 percent.

Meanwhile, 1,195 people have recovered from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The recovery toll swelled to 15,13,876. The daily recovery rate was 97.43 percent.

Dhaka division recored the highest number of deaths with 13 fatalities in the last 24 hours. Five each died in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Khulna, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh each reported two deaths.
