Coronavirus: Positivity rate drops further

Dhaka, August 25: The coronavirus positivity rate across the country has dropped further. On Tuesday, the rate was a little higher than 15 percent. On Monday, it was 15.54 percent.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the country collected 34,229 samples and tested 34,708 samples in between Monday and Tuesday morning. A total of 87,21,014 samples have been tested, so far, in the country.

The positivity rate was 15.12 percent. The overall rate stands at 16.89 percent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8, 2020.

On Tuesday, the country recorded 5,249 cases. The caseload has surged to 14,72,964.

According to the DGHS, 8,907 new patients recovered from the disease across the country in the last 24 hours. So far, 13,81,763 people have recovered across Bangladesh.

Among the 114 deceased, one person was below 10 years of age, one between 11 and 20, four between 21 and 30, four between 31 and 40, 11 between 41 and 50, 26 between 51 and 60, 36 between 61 and 70, 21 between 71 and 80, nine between 81 and 90 and one person over 91 years of age.
