Dhaka, October 17: Tomorrow is the 59th birthday of Shaheed Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. According to a decision of the cabinet department, the birthday of Sheikh Russel is being celebrated as 'Sheikh Russel Day'. The theme of this year is - 'Sheikh Russel is a symbol of serenity, fierce and lively and fearless.'

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's younger brother Sheikh Russell was born on this day in 1964 at the historic memorial-studded Bangabandhu Bhavan in Dhanmondi. On August 15, 1975, the child Sheikh Russell did not escape from the ruthless bullets of the hateful killers, the enemies of humanity. Bangabandhu was also brutally killed by the ghouls. He was a fourth-year student at the University Laboratory School.
