Covid-19 kills 20 in a day; 702 new cases identified

Dhaka, January 19: Coronavirus (Covid-19) has killed 20 more people across the country in the last 24 hours. Among them 14 are males and six are females. Eighteen died at the hospital and two at home. The death toll from the virus rose to 7,942.

In the last 24 hours, 15,574 samples were collected and 15,097 samples were tested in 199 laboratories. The total number of sample tests stood at 34,85,257. At the same time, 702 patients were identified in the sample test. With this, the total number of identified patients in the country stood at 5,29,031.

Meanwhile, 682 people, including asymptomatic patients, have recovered in the last 24 hours at various hospitals and homes in the country, including the capital. So far, a total of 4,73,855 people have recovered.

It said the detection rate in the last 24 hours was 4.65 percent. So far, the detection rate is 15.18 percent considering the sample test and the recovery rate considering the detection is 89.57 percent. The identified mortality rate is 1.50 percent.

The first coronavirus patient was identified in the country on March 8 and the first corona patient died on March 18. Of the total 7,942 deaths till Tuesday, 6,018 were males (75.77 percent) and 1,924 were females (24.23 percent).

Out of the 20 people who died, 11 were from Dhaka division, six from Chittagong division, two from Rajshahi division and one from Khulna division.
