Mask Usage Covid-19: People to be caned for not wearing mask
Dhaka, April 27: The government is moving towards stricter legal measures to prevent coronavirus infection if masks are not worn outside the home. At the same time, the government is going to give the power to beat the police. And that is being brought into the legal framework.
A high-level meeting of the government, chaired by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, on Monday discussed the issue of ensuring the wearing of masks during the decision to extend the lockdown.
At the end of the meeting, the official information statement said that strict legal action will be taken if the mask is not used outside the house. The government has repeatedly instructed people to use masks to prevent coronavirus infection when someone goes out of the house for an emergency. But it is being noticed that many people are disobeying this instruction.
In this case, the government will take strict legal action if the mask is not used while moving outside. The government is advising everyone to use two masks if necessary.
A government official said that while discussing the punishment for not getting a mask, an official offered a cane house. But under the existing law, there is no opportunity to give a cane house. In view of this, another negotiator suggested creating legal opportunities if necessary.
The official further said that in this context, it is being considered how to bring the issue of cane house in the legal framework. The decision will be taken at a meeting of the cabinet department. He said the government could add a provision to the provision of cane houses in case of urgent public interest. It will be legalized by the Infectious Diseases Control Act or any other law.
