Dhaka, September 1: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued an urgent directive to provide coronavirus vaccine to senior citizens and students above 18 years of age registered across the country, including the capital, by providing SMS on priority basis. In addition, pregnant women and nursing mothers who have registered will receive the vaccine without the SMS.

However, before receiving the jab, pregnant women will have to show an antenatal checkup (ANC) card / prescription from a specialist and sign a consent form, according to the DGHS.

The emergency directive was issued in a circular signed by Dr Md Shamsul Haque, director and line director (MNC & AH) of the DGHS, on Tuesday (August 31) as per the decision of the Covid-19 Vaccine Preparedness and Development Course Committee.
