Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 3 August 2023: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has commented that those who criticized Digital Bangladesh are now taking the most advantage. She said this at the 'Smart Bangladesh Task Force' meeting organized at the Prime Minister's office on Thursday (August 3).

The Prime Minister said, "We are improving in all areas of the country due to working according to the election manifesto. We are now on the way to Smart Bangladesh from digital."

She said, "In our election manifesto we promised to implement Digital Bangladesh, we have fulfilled it. This time the government's aim is to transform Bangladesh into a 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. Awami is focusing on four main pillars - Smart Citizen, Smart Society, Smart Economy and Smart Government. The League Government has embarked on a journey to build an affordable, sustainable, intelligent, knowledge-based, innovative Smart Bangladesh."

Highlighting the various technological developments taken during the time of the Awami League government, the Prime Minister said, "We have arranged submarine cables for fast internet access. Each of our telephones was analog. We were the first to initiate digital telephones. And mobile phones did not work anywhere except Dhaka and Chittagong. A There were only companies, if you call on a mobile, they would charge you 10 taka per minute, if you pick up, you would be charged 10 taka per minute. From that place, our effort was to deliver mobile phones to people. Today, we can talk at low cost, everyone is using the internet."

She said, "We were far behind. After Awami League came to power in 2009, now we are moving fast. People of our country can grasp technology very quickly. Now everyone has learned to use mobile-internet. We want everyone to become tech-savvy. We At the village level, schools have given computers to schools."

The Prime Minister also reminded about digital payments. He said, "We experimentally arranged to pay various bills online. Now people are enjoying the benefits. There is no need to stand anywhere with serials like before. We have prepared people to go to advanced technology. But once many people criticized about this digital Bangladesh, We did not listen to them. We went ahead to realize our dreams. Today they are the ones who are taking the most advantage."
