Crown Princess of Denmark visits Dhaka
Dhaka, April 25: Princess Mary Elizabeth Donaldson of Denmark arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a three-day visit. She will visit the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar and exchange views with the people most affected by the effects of climate change in the Sundarbans.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen greeted her with a bouquet of flowers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Later, the princess held a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a memorandum of understanding between the two countries were signed. The Foreign Minister also held a meeting with Princess Mary.
After a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr Momen, the princess left for Cox's Bazar this afternoon. Tomorrow, on Tuesday, the princess will visit various Rohingya camps and discuss the Rohingya situation directly with the locals. She will also exchange views with locals on the Rohingya issue.
On Wednesday, Princess will fly from Cox's Bazar to Satkhira by helicopter and visit different areas of the Sundarbans.
Princess Mary will exchange views with the people of Kultali, the village most affected by the effects of climate change, and visit a cyclone shelter and coastal dam on foot.
She will discuss biodiversity and saline water intake in the Sundarbans with forest officials.
Princess Mary will fly to Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight on Wednesday night.
