Dhaka, Sept 12: The authorities at the Hazrat Shahjalal International airport in Dhaka have issued instruction strictly barring the use of mobile phones by the officers in charge, days after the theft of 55.51 kg of gold was reported from the 'secured' vault of the airport's customs.

This was stated in an office order signed by Minhaj Uddin, Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Custom House (in charge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport) on Monday. It has been asked to use the official walkie-talkie and mobile phone of the shift in-charge for the airport officials and employees.

The office order said, "Officers and employees working in different shifts at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport are using excessive mobile phones at different times while performing their duties. As a result, there is a disruption in the passenger service of the passengers arriving at the airport and the office order is destroyed. In this situation, various officials and employees working in different shifts have been asked to use official walkie-talkies instead of mobile phones as a means of inter-communication to provide uninterrupted passenger service to the passengers."

It has also been said, "However, the officer in charge of shift and protocol (Mike 14) can use their official mobile phone. On the other hand, the officers and employees in charge can contact the official mobile phone of the protocol officer and shift in-charge only in case of urgent need."
