Cyclone 'Mocha': SSC and equivalent exams of 5 boards postponed

Dhaka, May 13: Due to Cyclone Mocha, SSC and equivalent exams of five boards scheduled to be held on Sunday (May 14) have been postponed. The boards are Comilla, Chittagong, Barisal, Madrasa and Technical Education Board. The inter-education board coordination committee confirmed the matter through a circular on Friday.

The notification signed by Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarkar said that the ongoing SSC and equivalent examinations on May 14 have been postponed due to the strong cyclone 'Mokha' created in the Bay of Bengal. The boards are - Chittagong Education Board, Comilla Education Board, Barisal Education Board, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board.

However, the examination of the said dates of other boards will be held as usual. The revised schedule of the postponed examination will be intimated through notification. It is specifically requested to take necessary action in this regard.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar said, this decision has been taken considering the situation. However, the revised schedule for the postponed exam has not been decided yet.

Meanwhile, the extremely strong cyclone 'Mocha' created in the Bay of Bengal is approaching the south-eastern coast of Bangladesh. The sea near the center of this cyclone is very rough. In such a situation, Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Payra seaports have been asked to lower the local warning signal number 4 and display the emergency signal number 8. However, Bagerhat's Mongla seaport has been asked to display local warning signal number 4.
