Dhaka, May 10: The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. It may develop into cyclone 'Mocha' by Wednesday evening, according to meteorologists.

At the same time, remote warning signal no. 1 has been maintained in four sea ports of the country. The special weather bulletin on Wednesday (May 10) morning said that the low pressure would become a deep depression.

It said that the low pressure over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has condensed and turned into a deep depression over the same area. It was located 1,550 km south of Chittagong sea port, 1,470 km south of Cox's Bazar sea port, 1,550 km south and southeast of Mongla sea port and 1,505 km south and southeast of Payra sea port at 6 am on Wednesday. It may become more concentrated till Thursday (May 11) towards north and north-west and later change direction and gradually move towards north and north-east.

Maximum sustained wind speed is 50 km/h within 48 km of the deep depression center, increasing to 60 km/h in gusty form. The notification also informed that the sea is rough in the area near the deep depression center. It also said that Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display remote warning signal number 1.

All fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to move cautiously from near the coast. Also Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked them not to wander in the deep sea.

After intensifying into a cyclonic storm, it will move north and north-west towards the Indian landmass on Thursday, meteorologists said. Then the 'face' can change direction. It can turn into a very strong cyclonic storm by changing its direction and turning north and north-east. Then its course may be towards the coast of Bangladesh and Myanmar. By April 14, Cyclone 'Mocha' is likely to cross Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar and Myanmar's Kayakpu coast.
