Dhaka, August 4: Everyone over the age of 18 needs to get vaccinated against coronavirus to go out. It will be a punishable offense to go out without vaccination. Entrepreneurs have said that those involved in product delivery will suffer as a result of this decision.

They said that if vaccination activities are not properly managed and everyone is not vaccinated, product delivery services may be disrupted, because a large part of those who are engaged in the delivery profession are young. Also many of them have registered for the jab, but are not getting SMS. As a result, there has been a delay in getting the vaccine.

Biplob Ghosh, founder of eCourier Service, said, "People who work in delivery are between the ages of 18-30. We have applied to bring all our employees under vaccination. Other organizations have done the same."

"It simply came to our notice then. But so far no notification has been issued. A lot of times we see some differences in notifications. We will inform the Ministry of Commerce if there is a notification or if the age limit for vaccination is not reduced."

Rafiqul Ranju, managing director and CEO of Delex, a product delivery company, said: "It is not a matter of getting the vaccine quickly just by registering. Many have registered for the vaccine, but are not receiving SMS."

"I am hearing that those who are 18 years old will be able to register from next week," he said. "There is some uncertainty about the vaccine. Many of us will not be able to get out if the mass vaccination campaign does not start properly."

On Tuesday, the government decided to extend the lockdown till August 10 to prevent the coronavirus infections. Vaccination has been made compulsory for human movement from the August 11. Anyone failing to follow the rule will be punished.

After the inter-ministerial meeting on the coronavirus situation, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told reporters, "Anyone above the age of 18 who wants to go out will have to get vaccinated. Without vaccination will be considered a punishable offense. If necessary, an ordinance can be issued to punish. As there is no parliamentary session now, the ordinance may be issued."
