Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 11 February 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the country's democracy would have been taken away if the parliamentary elections were not open to all. The Prime Minister said in her welcome address at the special extended meeting of Awami League at her official residence Ganabhaban on Saturday that if the elections were not open to everyone (Awami League leaders and workers), not only the elections would have been tarnished, but the democracy of the country would have been taken away.

Prime Minister and ruling Awami League President Sheikh Hasina also said that if the election was not for her party's people, Bangladesh's status as a developing country would have been destroyed. Referring to following their election manifesto every year while preparing the budget, she added, "Don't say that we have forgotten the election manifesto that we gave before the elections to maintain this achievement." She said that her party has re-opened the upazila elections for all the people of the party, the election is near.

The Prime Minister said that while in power, who has done much work for the common man in the last 15 years and who could not do it earlier will also be looked into. Through this we will see - who is accepted by the people.

She warned against any kind of conflict in the upcoming local government elections and said, "We don't want any kind of conflict." Strict action will be taken against those responsible - whoever they may be. Stating that the 12th election was free, fair and impartial, Sheikh Hasina, who was elected as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fourth consecutive time, said that those who want to question the election must present clear evidence in favor of it. She said that there have been elections in many developed countries of the world, but the opposition could not accept them.
