Dengue: 14 deaths reported in one day, record 2,653 patients hospitalized

Dhaka, July 27: Fourteen people have died across the country in the last 24 hours due to dengue fever. With this, the number of people who have died due to dengue this year has reached 215. Besides, 2,653 people were newly admitted to the hospital in the last 24 hours till 10 am on Wednesday, which is the highest in a single day this year. Earlier on Tuesday (July 25), 2,418 people were admitted to hospitals in one day.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday, 2,653 people have been admitted to various public and private hospitals of the country due to dengue infection from 8 am on Tuesday to 8 am on Wednesday. Among them, 1,327 residents of Dhaka and 1,326 people outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to July 26 this year, 40,341 people were affected by dengue. Among them 23,676 residents of Dhaka. Sixteen thousand 665 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka.

At the same time, 31,937 people were discharged from the hospital. Among them 18,744 residents of Dhaka and 13,193 outside Dhaka.

Earlier in 2022, 281 people died due to dengue, the highest in the history of the country. 27 people died of dengue in the last month of that year, December. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the year under discussion.

During the corona epidemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. In the same year, 105 people died due to dengue throughout the country.
