Dengue claims 13 more lives, 2,291 hospitalized

Dhaka, August 30: Thirteen people have died of dengue in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Tuesday across the country. With this, the number of people who have died due to dengue this year has reached 569. In addition, 2,291 people were newly admitted to the hospital at the same time. With this, the number of infected people in the country has increased to 1,91,133 this year.

This information was shared in the dengue report signed by Md. Zahidul Islam, in charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

According to the DGHS, 920 of the 2,291 people admitted to the hospital with dengue from Monday 8 am to Tuesday 8 am are residents of Dhaka, and 1,371 are outside Dhaka. At that time, seven of the 13 people who died of dengue were residents of Dhaka City and six outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to August 29 this year, 1,91,133 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. Among them, 56,247 are residents of Dhaka. And 62,886 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. Besides, 1 lakh 10 thousand 346 people have been released from the hospital so far. Among them, 51,992 people are residents of Dhaka and 58,354 people are outside Dhaka.

Earlier in 2022, 281 people died of dengue. 27 people died of dengue in the last month of that year, December. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the year under discussion.

During the corona epidemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. In the same year, 105 people died due to dengue throughout the country.
