Dengue: Five dead, 873 admitted to hospital on Monday

Dhaka, October 31: Five people died of dengue in the country from 8 am on Sunday to 8 am on Monday. At the same time, 873 new people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. With this, the number of patients admitted to hospitals across the country increased to 3,584.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), out of 873 people, 545 are residents of Dhaka and 328 are from outside Dhaka.

The DGHS said that from January 1 to October 30 this year, 38,024 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. Among them, 34,299 people have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. Five people died of dengue in 24 hours. A total of 141 people have died of dengue since January 1.

On June 21 this year, the DGHS reported the first death due to dengue in the country. During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, dengue transmission was not seen much. However, in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country, of which 105 died.
