Dengue kills three, 899 new patients recorded on Thursday

Dhaka, October 27: Another 899 people were admitted to the hospital in 24 hours from 8 am on Wednesday to 8 am on Thursday due to dengue fever. At the same time, three people died due to the disease. With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has increased to 123 people. And the number of dengue patients admitted in different hospitals across the country, including new cases, is 3,480 people.

On Thursday (October 27), the dengue report signed by Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, in-charge of the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), gave this information.

It is said that from Wednesday (October 26) 8:00 am to Thursday 8:00 am, among the 899 people who were admitted to the hospital due to dengue, 491 are residents of Dhaka and 408 are outside Dhaka. The number of dengue patients admitted in various public and private hospitals of the country including new cases has reached 3,480 people.

According to the information of the Directorate, from January 1 to October 27 this year, 34,822 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. Among them, 31,219 people have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. On June 21 this year, the DGHS reported the first death due to dengue in the country.

During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, dengue transmission was not seen much. However, in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country, out of which, 105 of them died.
