Dengue: Record 2,292 patients hospitalized in a single day, 9 deaths reported

Dhaka, July 24: The number of dengue cases is increasing day by day. Nine people have died in the last 24 hours due to dengue fever. With this, the number of deaths this year due to dengue has mounted to 176. Besides, in the last 24 hours, 2,292 people were hospitalized, which is the highest in this year. Earlier, 2,242 people were infected in a single day on July 22.

This information was shared in the dengue report signed by Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, in-charge of the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, July 23.

According to the DGHS, 2,292 patients were admitted to various public and private hospitals of the country due to dengue infection from 8 am on Saturday to 8 am on Sunday. Among them, 1,064 residents of Dhaka and 1,228 people outside Dhaka.

From January 1 to July 23 this year, 32,977 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue. Among them, 19,949 people have been admitted to various hospitals in the capital. And 13,028 people have been admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, 25,626 people received discharge from the hospital. Among them 15,661 residents of Dhaka and 9,965 outside Dhaka.

Earlier in 2022, 281 people died due to dengue, the highest in the history of the country. 27 people died of dengue in the last month of that year, December. At the same time, 62,382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the year under discussion.

During the corona epidemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. In the same year, 105 people died due to dengue throughout the country.
