Dhaka, July 20: The age limit for coronavirus vaccination has been lowered to 30 years by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The government has decided to reduce the age limit in order to bring more population of the country under the vaccination to prevent coronavirus infection and death.

Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Prof. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam confirmed the veracity of this information.

"Registration has started on Sunday night by lowering the age limit to 30 in the Surokkha app," he said.

He said the decision was taken to bring more people in the country under the Covid-19 vaccine.

Several health department officials said the government was collecting vaccines from various sources. There are currently four types of vaccines in the country (Covishield, Pfizer, Moderna and Sinopharm). In addition to adhering to hygiene rules, vaccination is one of the steps to prevent coronavirus infections, they said.
