Dhaka, November 11: The Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka will be closed for eight hours every day from December 9 till March 10, 2020 due to heavy maintenance work.

The information was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), who announced the closure of all kinds of flight operations during the aforementioned hours in a directive sent to domestic and foreign airlines on Wednesday.

Quoting Dhaka airport Executive Director Group Captain Touhid-ul Ahsan, Dhaka Tribune reported that the airport will remain closed from 12:00 am till 8:00 am each day, until the completion of maintenance work.

The official said that the Dhaka airport runway cannot be used for take-off and landing due to the construction work of the new connecting high-speed taxiway.

Aircraft companies have been asked to use the runway at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet in case an emergency landing is required within the eight hours that the Dhaka airport is closed, the CAAB said.
