Dhaka, November 14: Everyone involved in bus fires in different parts of the capital has to face the law, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the remarks while talking to reporters at his residence in Dhanmondi on Saturday (November 14).

During the Dhaka-18 by-election, buses in at least nine places in the capital were set on fire on Thursday (November 12th). A total of eight cases have been registered against more than 150 people till noon on Friday. Police have arrested 18 so far.

The Home Minister said, "They do these things all the time. It may take effort all the time. But nowhere was it successful, this time they set fire to a few buses. We are taking action so that all those who were involved in this act, those who started this arson, have to face the law."

The minister said the phone conversations spread through social media were being verified. "After analyzing these, we will take legal action against those who are responsible for it," he said.

Stating that the violence could be centered on the Dhaka-18 by-election, the minister said, "Some conversations have been found, which shows that they (BNP) did so because they could not accept the results. Wherever they have been defeated, they want to question the election. We have identified many of those who set fire to it through video footage. We identified them after watching the CCTV footage and handed them over to the law. The security forces are active."

In response to a question, Asaduzzaman Khan said, "Detectives have not failed. The country is now at peace as their activities continue. All we can say is that we will not allow any chaotic situation in the country."

On BNP Home Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statement of government agents setting fire to the bus, Kamal said it does not seem to be true.
