Dhaka International Trade Fair begins today

Own representative, Dhaka, January 1: Today (Saturday, January 1), on the first day of the New Year 2022, the 26th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) has commenced. The month-long fair has been held at the newly constructed Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal New Town. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the fair through a video conference from Ganabhaban.

The information was given in a press conference held on the occation of the DITF-2022 on Friday. The Export Development Bureau organized the press conference here at the fair's exhibition centre. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi was present there at the chief guest.

It was said in the press conference that one of the main strategies for the development of export trade is product development and product market creation, and one of the main strategies to create a product market is to organize international trade fairs and participate in fairs.

Under the direction of the Prime Minister, a new era is going to be added in the development and expansion of trade and commerce of the country by organizing this year's fair at this newly constructed parmanent venue of the trade fair.

The Dhaka International Trade Fair has been organized since 1995 in a joint venture between the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau to assist in the promotion, dissemination, marketing and production of domestic products. This is the first time the fair has been held in a parmanent complex.

It is further informed that like other years, the month-long fair will remain open from 10 am till 9 pm (till 10 pm on weekly holidays). Entry fee to the fair is Rs 40 for adults and Rs 20 for children.

This year, the products on display at the fair include local textiles, machineries, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, jute and jute products, home furnishings, leather goods including leather and shoes, sports goods, sportswear, sanitary ware Plastics, Melamine Polymers, Herbal & Toiletries, Imitation Jewelry, Processed Foods, Handicraft Products, Home Decor etc.

A total of 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions and 162 stalls of different categories and 15 food stalls have been allotted to different domestic and foreign organizations in the trade fair. All the stalls have been allotted in the two halls of 14,366 square metres (about 1,55,000 sq ft) in the air-conditioned exhibition centre with state-of-the-art facilities. The pavilions, mini pavilions and food stalls have been constructed outside the fair complex (front and back).
